The 4th World Cadet Games 2024 Concludes Successfully: Russia, China, and Venezuela collision Top the Medal Standings

The closing ceremony of the 4th World Cadet Games took place on Friday, August 23rd, culminating in a sporting event filled with camaraderie among the 9 participating delegations.
For a week, Venezuela, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Türkiye, the People’s

Republic of China, Iran, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Mozambique, and Nicaragua as a guest country, competed in track and field, swimming, pentathlon, orienteering, volleyball, fencing, pistol and rifle shooting. These events served as the perfect setting to promote sports and friendship among the cadets representing their respective countries, exchanging customs, cultures, and idiosyncrasies among the delegations.

Russia claimed the top spot on the medal table, followed by China and Venezuela in third place.


The Russian Federation secured the first place in the medal tally at these Cadet Games, winning 43 gold medals, 39 silver medals, and 25 bronze medals for a total of 107 medals.


Likewise, the second place in the medal tally was occupied by the delegation of the People’s Republic of China with 27 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 27 bronze medals, finishing the competition with 68 medals.


Venezuela obtained third place with 22 gold medals, 36 silver medals, and 31 bronze medals for a total of 89 medals in this international competition.


Iran finished fourth in the final medal tally of the 4th World Cadet Games, followed by Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and the Republic of Türkiye.


Peace and equality reigned among the sister delegations
General in Chief Vladimir Padrino López, Vice President for Sovereignty, Politics, Security, and Peace, and Minister of Popular Power for Defense, highlighted the respect among cadets, reaffirming that peace and equality prevailed throughout the sporting event.


Furthermore, Chief General Padrino López assured that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) is proud to reward the effort, perseverance, dedication, and sacrifice of the military youth from different continents and cultures of the world.

“Military youth have become a universal reference of unity and camaraderie, they are a concrete example of what can be contributed in the search for a better future, which is also present in our unwavering will for independence,” he pointed out.

During the closing ceremony in the theater of the Military Academy of the Bolivarian Army of Venezuela, the Secretary General of the International Military Sports Council, Navy Captain Roberto Reccia, presented a plaque in recognition of the Minister of Popular Power for Defense, applauding the effort and hospitality of the Venezuelan authorities and people to all the delegations of participating countries.


Days of camaraderie among cadets
The closing ceremony was attended by the Vice President for Social and Territorial Socialism and Minister of Popular Power for Youth and Sports, Mervin Maldonado, the Secretary of State for National Defense of Nicaragua, José Manuel Zelaya, the General Staff of the FANB, the diplomatic corps, special guests, and military attachés accredited in the country.


As the host country, Venezuela welcomed for six days worthy military representatives from the People’s Republic of China, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Republic of Nicaragua, the Republic of Mozambique, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Russian Federation, the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, and the Republic of Türkiye.

The cadet athletes revived the military mystique through sports. The World Military Cadet Games are organized by the International Military Sports Council (CISM), composed of 140 member countries.

In turn, its first edition was held in Türkiye in 2010, with the aim of strengthening the bonds of friendship between the participating countries.
